Broken front Differential Backet
« on: November 26, 2017, 03:30:42 PM »
Was out riding my 2016 Uforce 500 yesterday and heard some snapping coming from the front end. The bike got jerky like it had a bad belt. I slowly took it home to look it over and find out what was going on. The front differential/axle braket that bolts the the frame had completely broken off and the whole diff was free floating. The upright tabs where it bolts to the diff have all snapped off (where the green line is in the pic). It tore up the boot on the right axle as well.

Has anybody else heard of this problem? It's going to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully there won't be a fight for warranty coverage, I still have a year left.

I've heard of people having brackets break in front and rear but the all though it was because of lost bolts. with all four of yours breaking..I wonder what kind of stresses are on that bracket...and why.

It's made of pretty thin metal, maybe 5/32 thick. I remembered tonight a few weeks ago, when I backed up with the wheels cut all the way around, I heard a faint snap a couple of different times but couldn't get it to do t again. I'm thinking now that might have been the start of it breaking. I never checked the bracket bolts to see if they were loose, I was so disgusted when I saw the whole diff floating and the cv boot tore up, I loaded it on the trailer to take to the dealer tomorrow morning.

I've only used the diff lock couple of times since I've had it and that was last winter in snow and never used the override. I don't jump it or race it and go around mud and water if I can. My son gets ticked at me when I do go riding with him cause I go to slow.
