How clean does the drive fixed sleeve need to be?  I've been scrubing on it and it still has some rough spots near the base.  I thought about using the second drive sleeve that I bought since they seem to be exactly the same but the head on it is not compatable with the original thrust plate.  Also do you think I need to order the original weights or will the weights that were in the second one I bought be ok - just wondering if they were pretty standard.  Thanks again for the info
Well, if its damaged it should be replaced. Roughness, scars, wear spots, pits.. all take their toll on belts. Not sure about the weights but you can look them up and if they have the same part number...you will be safe...otherwise no more mix-n-matching.

Found this in another post but would this hold true for 600... In the post it said it did but just clarifying because I don't want to replace anything else (for now)

"The 1000 had the same clutch so the primary nut should be torqued to 82ftlbs, the retainer bolt to 45 and the secondary nit to 85"

Torque specs are probably the same

OK so I cleaned it got new belt and got new nylon sheeths to go on thrust plate.  Thought I torqued correctly - started it up and this is what happened.  Both the secondary and the primary both spin and wont shift into gears.  The bearing seemed to spin freely in the primary when I reassembled it.  I am not sure where to turn next.

Don't know why but the link to the video won't upload on forum so it is

Looks like the one-way is in backwards. If not then the belt is making contact with the sheaves. Need to know why.

Why way should the one way spin? Right now it spins clockwise. If it is touching the sheething what might be some reasons? Thanks again for the help

The engine is spinning clockwise. So the outer race should spin free counterclockwise so the belt won't turn. Think of it this way. If the engine was running and you grabbed the bearing's outer race...the part the belt sits on, that's doing the same thing as the engine stopped and you turn that race counterclockwise. So it should spin free counterclockwise. It's in backwards.

If it was the sheaves contacting the belt was the problem, first you would gauge the gap between the two to ensure its; below spec. Then you would check the shims and/or other parts that end up giving it that set distance between the two sheaves.
