Blown rear diff or transmission ?
« on: April 22, 2018, 02:54:30 AM »
Hi guys!

Took my 18mod zforce 800 out trail riding yesterday. Then all of a siden i heard this cracking Noise from the back when going full throttle. Tried again heard nothing. Then i put it in reverse, it started making so much noise i just had to stop. Then i tried to go forward, and now the noise is there everytime i push the throttle too hard. So i could barely give it throttle to get me home. Everytime i let go of the throttle and it starts engine braking the noise comes back. So what Im i to look for ? Rear diff, transmission or clutch ? The noise is there both in 2wd and 4wd. The noise sounds like teeths completely broken 😱

Wow..don't see that every day. Aside from a manufacturing defect, I have only seen that two other times- one was when a chunk of metal got between the ring and pinion forcing the carrier away-pushing the bearing out the side...the other was on one with too much of a lift causing the CV joint to be past its operational angle which overstressed the side bearing and cracked the case under a hard load.

For you...it's new diff/gear case time.

That should definitely be covered under warranty. You shouldn't have a problem getting it covered. Just hope the parts will be in in less than 3 weeks.
