You know, I never used the bolt to spread the secondary when I did mine. I unbolted the primary took the front half off and there wasn't really any tension on the belt do I just unbolted the secondary and took it off with the belt in it. I did the reverse to install and never spread the secondary.  Just thought about that after NMK's comment about the bolt in the secondary
Then without the secondary parted at all, you must have had a heck-of-a-time rolling it enough to closing the primary to get the cam plate on the splines and the retainer down. Unless the belt was stretch-out already.

hmm, I don't remember having an issue.  I do remember when I put the primary plate back on I was surprised that the plate didn't go onto the splines very far.  You have me thinking now, I feel like I should pull the cover off and check the nut torque. I've driven it probably 60 miles since the change though and it act's normal. The primary is open at rest though.

Oh you are probably fine...I wouldn't worry about it. The cover just barely goes over the splines and if you torqued it to 80-90 ftlbs, the belt would have to choice but to move up the sheaves...it isn't very much anyway, I think the bottom of the bely is just off the sleeve by a few millimeters.

Yeah I always said B1 was just too soft for these. They should set them at least C1 or B2 from the factory. I just set mine back down to B2 from A2 cause it was just overkill for the riding I do.
