Bent fairlead/ front bumper bracket 2021 600T
« on: February 06, 2023, 06:41:01 PM »
My 21 600T is set up with a KFI plow and KFI roller fairlead. Not sure exactly what happened but it seems to me that the bike was either run with the plow in the air for an extended period of time or taken off-road and now the front bumper bracket is bent.

Part # affected is: OEM – 9DS#-232000-6000. Front Bumper.

I'm wondering if it makes sense to try to bend the bracket back to straight or if it would be better to replace the front bumper with a new one entirely? My concern is after bending the steel back and forth that it has lost its integrity and it'll continue to be an issue.

Chinese steel has little integrity to start with...IMO..so I would try and straighten it and even reinforce it if possible and if it still feels like it may be a problem you can always replace it. Also if that's one of those hard stops on your winch cable, I quit using those as I damaged a roller fairlead on another machine using one years ago. 2500-3500 lbs of pull can come it pretty fast. I went to a rubber stop which gives me an extra half-second. Maybe look into an auto-stop or a dedicated plow lift.

Looks like someone sucked it up too far.

https://www.theatvsuperstore.com/Denali-ATV-Plow-Kit-s/118.htm

Look about half way down the page.

We went to this kit at work because with just a straight pull it was still WAY too easy to suck our plows all the way up, especially after running for hours and being tired.

I don't think we've snapped a rope or grounded out the winch since we installed these.

They also alleviate the down jerk on the front of the bike when Lifting it. And gives you several more inches you can raise the plow for clearing obstacles.

To update on this, i ended up replacing my front bumper. Was a little tricky to get the top/ side plastics off and removing the push rivets from the wheel wells, but all things considered, the install went pretty well.

The only difference was that the holes for the winch fairlead on the old bumper were M8 and the same holes on the new bumper are M10. I wonder why they made that change... No real difference to me other than that I needed to find some M10-1.25x20 stainless bolts which aren't the most common locally.
