Belt housing exhaust
« on: May 14, 2016, 02:34:25 PM »
Has anyone snorkeled the exhaust of the belt housing? If so how did you do it? I have a problem of water getting into the exhaust of the belt housing and causing the belt to slip. This exhaust is really low where it blows onto the O2 sensor in front of the engine and if you get into a little water it pushes water into the exhaust opening. I tried using PVC but the exhaust is to hot where you need to run the belt exhaust and melts the PVC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just raised mine up about a foot. I used rubber couplers and plastic tubing. I used bailing wire to keep it off the exhaust and rapped aluminum foil around it a few times to keep it from melting. This is just temporary until I do full snorkels, but has lasted almost a year. I plan to use flexible intake hose from Auto Zone when I snorkel. I've used it before. It can handle heat pretty well and is flexible enough to route away from the exhaust.

I ordered a couple rolls of this stuff to wrap around the abs when its time to snorkel...still can't decide if I want to wrap the headers with heat wrap for added protection.

Can you use automotive exhaust tubing? Hi Temp Silicone couplers, with a custom made exhaust tube snorkel? Heat Tape. or Carbon Fiber tube could work as well.

I have tried the flex piping from Napa but it won't bend enough or soft enough to clamp anything to it. Wrapping the exhaust is a possibility. I just hated to take it off to get it wrapped well. There just isn't enough room to do much with it and with the rectangular shape of the outlet its hard to get anything to fit. This will give me some things to try, if anyone can think of anything else please post.

There are some high-heat silicone boot adaptors out there that can redirect the plumbing. After that there are high-temp silicone tubing that can handle about any heat that can be used to get it outside.
