Bandit Shocks
« on: February 17, 2019, 10:19:25 AM »
Hey guys,
Have any of you tried the new bandit shocks ?
When I opened the box, what a good looking shock. and super fast shipping.
I installed the shocks as they came, as when I ordered I stated in the order what
we use it for type of riding and two adults, well apparently there not setup for
any specific use. when I installed them I lost 4 inches of clearance, the springs had very
little preload on them, so I had to set the ride height back to where it was, glad I measured
before, maybe that is normal I don’t know, haven’t been on a ride yet so I don’t know how they ride,
can’t wait.

The only one that I know that has gone with the Bandit shocks is my friend with the WildCat trail. He did no adjustments and to me..it seemed a little stiff...and he gained about 1.5"s with that setting. He is very happy with them and with that setting. Interesting that yours came so ..un-set.

Yeah I kinda thought they would be setup a little closer than that, the spring rate
is 310 on rear and 210 front, not sure what the oem rates are.
I’ll know more next weekend as we’re going on a ride.

Wow...that's a lot different then for a trail. Ours are 200 for the rear and 175 for the front. But the angle and leverage is very different so..

Curious to find out how you like them.  What was your ground clearance before and after the install?  Front and rear?

Hey Sockman,
i had 17" measured front and back in the middle of frame before new shocks
after install same measuring points i had 13".
on the oem shocks i've never adjusted the spring preload left them at factory
settings, but i now notice the machine is a lot more springy or has a lot more movement.
i think there going to be a good improvement.

Wow, that's some ground clearance.  I'm at 11" in the front and 12" at the rear.  I just put the SuperATV high clearance a-arms on the rear and was going to reduce some of the spring tension, but it'll be at the expense of ground clearance.  I already did that at the front and lost an inch or so.  You have 29's, my tires are stock heights, but still, not sure what explains the massive difference in our clearances.

you know i'm not sure, i measured under front end centered under the little plate.
i've got a lift for a RZR on it that was supposed to be 2" but i think it's more like 3.
but either way i'm happy with it.

Yea that RZR bracket lift lifted mine over 3 inches when I first installed it. I wound down my preload so it was about 2inches of lift.

Well guys, we just got back from our weekend ride on the new shocks.
They rode a little stiffer than before but not bad, but they handled the rough
so much better, they made a huge difference in handling and ride
quality was better in the rough, I don’t have the sway bar on so I had a lot of
body roll before, not with these.
So yes I really like them.

Good..glad they worked out. So...for those guys that want a little smoother ride..maybe 250 rears and the 200s or 175s front ?

Ok, you talked me into buying a set.   8)  Just shipped out, so hope to have them in a couple days.

They call them series 46, Gen 3 so I'm assuming they've made improvements as they continue to build them??

Is there a market for the stockers I'm about to take off?
