« on: May 17, 2018, 10:10:42 PM »
Brand new 500 H.O. 4 miles on it now and I started it tonight and it took off to about 5 miles per hour without touching throttle, kind of scary.  thanks

Was it not in park?  Idle too high?

It was after it was ridden for awhile, came to a stop and took foot off brake and at took off, up to about 5 miles an hour

Probably just a binding throttle cable. Some were routed incorrectly.

NWK I find these first posts threads frustrating, I'm wondering if they need to hit the Introduce yourself shouldn't be a priority then you can post?

Maybe the sprag locked up? Did the RPM climb? Was a tow vehicle hooked up?

nothing being towed, RPMs were at 3800-4000,  this morning i started it and went right to 3800 rpms and wouldn't idle down, shut it off and restarted it 10 minutes later and the rpms were at around 1400

3800 range RPM with no throttle applied is crazy high. You must have to put it in gear before starting or it would grind like nobodies business.
If it's brand new, it needs the seller to have a shop session on it, on their dime.

Go back to your dealer, inform them of this problem.
There is a known problem to effect some of the 400-500 ecu's
The fuel map is out of sink wit the TPS , When the vehicle warms up the problems will start. This will not go away.
There is a TSB update that was pushed out to the distributors/ not dealers, regarding this problem.
I myself worked with cfmoto to over come this problem and find a remedy.
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

when i went to start it Saturday morning (hadn't been run for over 24 hrs) started it and it was running at 4,000 RPM's shut it off and restarted it twice, 2nd time it was running at normal RPM, took it to dealer they checked it out and drove it around and checked it again, couldn't find anything, I took it for a 15-20 min. ride and came back to dealer nothing happened, brought it home rode it off and on Sat. afternoon and evening, rode it alot on Sunday and mid afternoon it had high RPM's at start up again, shut it off and restarted it and back to normal again, had it out for awhile after that and it was fine. hope the dealer can figure something out
