Any advice?
« on: September 24, 2016, 06:40:46 AM »
My wife and I are planning on getting a new CF MOTO Z800 this week. I've owned atv's in the past and know of some of the maintenance required for them. Is there any special things that I'll have to do as far as maintenance/up keep that in should know other than what the dealer may tell me? Any tips or tricks to help me out? Thanks! Also,I'll post pics of the machine and some shots of the first day out also!

Hey, good for you, we've had ours for a year now and have no regrets.
The only thing we've had was the fan temp. sensor in rad. went out, but that's a known issue, I think the new ones are an updated one, I had previously done NMK's fan bypasss mod. so we had no problems.
First thing to do is replace factory air filter with a uni or twin air.
And for convenience in case fan sensor goes out do the bypass mod.
We really love ours..

Exactly the same thing.  Almost a year now and replaced , Thermo switch, air filter( which I hear have been upgraded) speed sensor, had my dealer get me the new rear shock design.
Very minor stuff.  Love this machine!!

The only other thing I would add on top of what the other guys have is..go through all the bolts and screws you can get to and check their torque...especially all suspension-related bolts...and check for missing cotter pins in tie rod ends and ball joints. And just a personal preference, change the engine oil once well prior to when the book says..like in less then the first 100 miles. Then per the book is fine. Enjoy..and congrats!

We are in Southern WV. Really close to the Hatfields and McCoy trails. We're gonna wait until the first of the year to get our permits but we still have plenty of places to ride around here!

I've been looking at windshields and figure it'll be cheaper to make. Any thoughts on that? I mean,a lexan or plexiglass sheet would be cheaper than a pre-made windshield. Just a little work involved.

Plexi is cheap but will scratch easy and fast and will crack with moderate impacts. Lexan isn't all that cheap but has the surfacing to not scratch as easy ...and will handle impacts better. Still not as good as the AR Makrolon that SuperATV uses for their windshields.

I made mine, front and back with plexi. It's been holding up ok. It scratched a little but nothing major. And yes it was cheap to do.  Did both for about $60 + hardware.

Talked with my dealer the other day and he informed me that the first thing they do is change the air filter with a UNI filter. He's also going to go over the machine top to bottom and double check everything. We're getting excited! Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post tomorrow!
