I picked this machine up brand new yesterday from dealer. I put around 10 miles on it with no issue yesterday.. this morning I started it up, warmed it up for around 5 min, started riding and it died within a few seconds. Now when I go to start it, all I get is a click. Display shows 12.2v with the ignition on. I've tried bridging the solenoid with a screw driver and it does the same thing. Anyone have any idea what may be going on here ?

Do nothing else before taking it back in. If bridging the starter contactor doesn't turn it over then either there is a problem with the power supply, starter motor or...engine. Have to ask...you let a new, cold engine idle for 5+ minutes?

Many parts on engines rely on the "sling and spray" of oil off other parts to get adequate lubrication. New parts..ie parts that are still rough and not broke-in yet obviously need more to maintain a film between the two parts. Cold engines with cold oils flow very slowly and cold oils don't sling or spray well and lower RPMs so things like cylinder walls, rings, cam lobes, chain sprockets...ect.. may starve of oil while idling. Never a good idea to let any engine idle for long periods..not even one warn and broke-in. Best..especially when new..to hold the idle RPMs up to at least between 1800 and 2200 RPM for at least a couple of minutes. Hopefully yours just has some minor issue and will be out of the shop in no time.

Yep. Dealers are supposed to connect/install the batteries and more then just a few have not had the cables tightened so check them..at the battery.

Just heard back from the dealer. Starter motor is dead. Battery and solenoid are fine. They applied power directly to the starter and no power. They are ordering a new starter. Hopefully it's available.

Doesn't explain why the machine shut off abruptly but certainly explains the no start. Will update when I have more info.

Have then confirm to you that the engine does in fact still rotate.

New starter is installed and the machine seems to run as it should! Hopefully a one time issue! 9 miles on it so far.
