Adjustable throttle lever
« on: September 07, 2016, 08:46:15 PM »
My hands are bad so they hurt pretty quickly. To make riding more tolerable I have designed and built a adjustable throttle lever for my canam. I made two styles. One hooked and another with a larger arc. They pivot at the stem so you can set it so your hand sits in a more natural position.they drop right in place of the oem lever.

I like the hooked design myself. I don't need to push. I can just pull my thumb in to give it gas. Don't need to reach for the lever, so it helps alot.

Nice work! My thumb got so bad I went with the Moose Dual-Glaser so I could give it a break and use the twist while the thumb recovered. Modified the lever to get it where I liked it and hardly need the twist throttle.... so I know the importance of a good feeling lever.

Hey I see a fellow 3d printer guy!  What model printer do you have?  Good work also on the thumb lever.

stratasys, my employer owns it. The 3d printed one was way too flexible but if I change up the lever shape again, I can see if it's going to work out before I spend all the time milling one up.

Nice.  I have my own Solidoodle.  If anyone ever needs a prototype of anything printed just hit me up and I can print it and mail it to ya.  I wish I had access to the milling equipment to do some of the stuff you have there.  That would be GREAT!

Does the milling equipment use STL files like 3d printers do?

No. I can use a .dxf or an .igs file to get dimensions. I have to use the 2 axis machines. The z is manual. The full on machining centers are super pricy and if I caused damage I would be responsible for the repairs. To rebuild a spindle can cost 30-60k.
