Actuator Replacement
« on: June 07, 2022, 07:35:14 PM »
I am replacing the actuator/servo motor on the front diff on my 2016 uforce 500 and have a couple of questions.

1. I have all four of the bolts out. I don't see anything else in the picture attached that would hold it in but it doesn't seem to want to come out. Before I do too much prying, is there anything else that holds it in?

2. I'm assuming the piece with the teeth that the arrow is pointing to has to be in a certain position when the actuator is installed. Should it be to the left or the right? It was in 2wd when the actuator quit working.

1- As I recall, yes, all there is was the the four bolts then just work it off the O-ring and straight out.
2- As shown, it will be in 2wd and that's where you want it when re-installing it.  Also clear all oil from the surfaces and use some RTV  on the actuator when re-installing. It will serve as a lube over the O-ring and make a secondary seal behind it as that area is prone to leak oil.

Thanks NMKawierider. I just didn't want to put to much pressure prying on it incase there was something else holding it in. I like the idea of the RTV as well. Thanks once again.

Mine leaked almost right from purchase. When I took off the actuator to install a new O-ring, I noticed both the old and new O-rings didn't stick-up above the grove they cut for the O-ring on the bottom...of course, where the oil is. When I mic-ed it out I found the grove was cut deeper on the bottom side...like it wasn't centered in the machine. The only thing I could do was make a second seal behind it with RTV. I did, let it set a day, filled it with oil and it's been dry ever sense. Yours may not have this problem as it has resistance. Mine didn't. Still..never hurts to be double-sure..cause most do start leaking there anyway.
