2023 Zforce 800 Trail and USFS
« on: July 12, 2023, 04:25:25 PM »
I was going to go with a group up near Featherville ID and take the 50" only trail up to Iron Mountain.  However, before I took off asked a friend that had taken this trail what the width of the gates were entering the trail and along the trail (total of 4), he said they were 53 1/2 inches wide. Unfortunately,  I had to stop riding my Suzuki 500 quad due to medical reasons and purchased a 2023 Zforce 800 Trail, seems that this model is 54 1/2 inches at the widest points(front fenders).  Well that sure put a kibosh on my plans and probably all 50" only trails in USFS areas.

I'd go anyway...those fenders flex some. Bet you can do it. New mine was 53" and that was at the shoulder bars. Took those off when I git my doors then added wheel spacers and fenders. I still get through the gates...although I might touch a hair sometimes.

Your fenders might flex but the 2023 are solid with zero flex.  If the steel post are 53 1/2 inches apart don't see anyway I can find anyway to reduce the width of my machine
1 inch.  Also it is over 120 miles one way and I can't see taking a chance it's a no-go or do some damage to my ride. There are plenty of other places to ride.

Ok. 120 miles is a ways to go just to find out it won't fit through a restriction gate. Really chaps me that as well as the Chinese are at copying other's work, they can't make a "trail" vehicle that doesn't exceed 50 inches wide..like Polaris and Can Am does...the ones they copy the most. At least in 2015 mine was called a ZForce 800 53 so you knew it was over 50 inches, not a Trail like they do now.

My mistake I orignally said rear fenders were 54 1/2 inches wide, should have said front.  Edited my original post to reflect that.

Looking at photos of the Gen II Zforce it appears the fender flares just bolt on. Have to attempted to remove them?

We just did the Paiute Trail in Utah, and we pulled our fenders off all three of these machines. (Cforce 1000 Overland, Cforce 800 XC, and a '23 ZForce 800 Trail).

With the fenders off, all 3 met the 50" requirement. Some of the gates were wide enough to allow machines up to 54 inches, and some were a bit tighter. Taking the fenders off is not ideal, but it isn't very hard either. I think it really depends on the actual gate widths, which can vary.

FWIW... We actually like our machines better without the fenders, I doubt we'll even put them back on.

Thanks for the idea.  Took of both front and rear fender flairs off and looks like my width is just over 50 inches.
Only minor problems was dealing with the push pins until I went down to Harbor Freight and got  push pin pliers and panel plan pliers; made the job real easy.

I did 50" trails in Colorado last week on my 1000 Overland.  Yep the fender flares will slightly rub, but the tire width is 48" and will fit through a 50" gate easy peasy.....  1" each side.

I do know that some guys take off the fender flares, but they mainly do it to fit 29-30" tires on the machine.

Hello. This is my first post regarding my 2022 GForce 800 trail. My experience is 55 years of all types motocross, quads of a lot styles as well as Harleys. I just sold a Polaris 800 Sportsman 4x4 interested in the side by side UTV,s. I am not a rock climber or serious off road abuse  user. Having 40 acres next to Lake Shasta, and 8 years ago moving to northern Idaho Quads, UTV,s can be ridden on the street here and having hundreds of miles of trails rite near our home. I had a friend tell me he was selling his 2022 Gforce trail 800 . He lives in Montana sent me photos, a short run video including a trailer. the 800 had less than 900 miles looked like new, so a little investigation decided to buy it. He delivered it as well, But lost title so I said no problem I already had plans to make mine in my shop, lights, turn signals and detail it like new as I did. The Gforce really was no damage, and other than normal trail dirt I was impressed. All the goodies were added, I had the suspension & the UTV looking like show room. Title came Had it licensed in Idaho with idea of really just using in streets. Or travailing behind our motor home.

Now without getting into exact details of all the issues I have found with this, I said to my wife are you kidding me for what even these about $14K new cost.. Yes I know the cost of the cost of all others. First off the brakes had to be repaired by me, excessive vibration, low end power, cab heat in just a short amount of ride time, I have only put less than 50 miles on this, When I took seats out  fuel pump leaking a good size amount of fuel around fuel pump directly under passenger seat, 3 missing zerk fittings, Buyer never serviced this bike even at 300 miles as recommend. No worries he told me had not, But 900 miles I will do it in which I did, and it needed it air filter plugged, oil almost black. also I was not happy about how noisey this one is. I installed a baffle, a little bit quieter. Then I dealt with windows vibrating so bad, I took apart and used isolation pads I already had to help keep vibration to a minimum. Now I have to address the excessive cab heat from the tranny & motor. My whole story here is I would not recommend these to no one. Look at the forums on these. questions get asked but some of the answers are so vague its funny. I did try and contact CForce with my disappointments as well as danger of fires, as there have been, totally ignored by factory. No they never answered  my questions. So now even digging deeper, I can see a lot of complaints against these various styles of UTV,s. So with less than 50 miles I have a new looking side by side that looks cool for an entry level machine and gets cool comments. This bike has left the factory with lots of things, that most riders would have to take to a shop to battle there issues. Poor Design. Now before  I go farther I have friends here with the Hondas as well as Razors who have expessed issues with theres, and after paid in ewxcess of $20 K new.  Thanks for reading Rick

I assume you are talking about the Z Force as there isn't a G Force and yes, the Gen-1s were full of issues that were mostly cleared with the introduction of the Gen-2 design. I too am one of those with a Gen-1 Z Force 800 trail and even though I have maintenanced the heck out of it and replaced anything that could be a problem in the future, its still has all those design flaws and like you I would not recommend any of the Gen-1 series..whether it be the trail or EX chassis. I can only imagine what condition yours is in with having no maintenance..or even an oil change in 900 miles. If the previous owner kept the factory or OE paper air filter on it and rode it in any dust, expect to put an engine in it by 1300 miles. Very common. May want to...pass it on before that. :) Good luck.
