2022 Zforce 800 trail - wont turn over but has power.
« on: January 01, 2025, 08:29:34 AM »
So got a low mileage ZF800 trail, however I noticed once in a blue moon it would not turn on, but would normally start on a given day. Checked connection on battery and was a bit loose, so I tightened it. Still did it once in a while, where it wont turn over.

Now its not doing anything at all (still has power, lights, dash etc) I also double checked the kill switch, loose cables around the battery area. Also moved the P to N to see if maybe it was something with the position of P and N. So as of now it went from doing it once in a while, to fully dead.

I do hear the EFI pump turn on, but if I turn it back off and turn it back on right after, I wont hear the EFI pump. Not sure if that is normal or not? Usually when i turn on and off the machine and on again, I usually hear the EFI pump right after on other machines.

Where is a good place I should be looking?

Thanks!

The kill switch is the first place to start as they get water down into them and corrode some..but not all the contacts sometimes. It kills power to several systems including starting, fuel and ignition so having some but not all points to it..first. When others have had this type of situation it was usually that switch...or the key switch. The other thing to test is the main 30/20 amp fuse holder as CFM had a problem with not the fuse, but the holder itself. Bad crimp connections internally would open up and become loose, allowing enough power to light the dash but not enough system power to energize the starter or sometimes the fuel pump. Expose the fuse and prepare to probe the wires going in from the battery and out. Turn the key on and the headlights and test. There should be the same on each side...the same as the battery. And the battery should have atound 12.6 volts. If not, replace it. Also not a bad idea to have the battery load tested. Never know...it may just be bad.
