2017 ZForce 800 EX - R800 Performance Clutch Kit
« on: February 01, 2018, 04:27:56 PM »
Hello, I installed a R800 kit maybe a year ago, and I am experiencing belt wear problems, I complained and they sent me some shims for alignment, but still, I am braking belts from time to time... I live in Costa Rica, and its very hilly and slippery in wet season, and very loose in summer season..
After wearing out the OEM belt, I am installing Gates 40C3691, and have broken at least 2 in the last 4 months..
I want to know if anyone has a similar problem, and if there is anyone that has installed the R800 kit on their machine?

I know that some here have.. but a few found several problems including going through belts while others are happy with it. Maybe one will chime in. Some have gone back to their wet clutches though.

Hi, i have the race kit installed for the last 1500 km (5000km on the ZForce now). It run perfect with absolutely no belt wear in 1500 km. The clutch stay very clean.
What is your rpm when you floor it on a start ? What is your rpm on top speed and what is your top speed ?

Make sure the teflon pad on the secondary are ok.

Are the belts breaking or blowing?

If this is the CFMOTO dry clutch set it is begins with an alignment issue. My experience was zero performance gain, in fact I would guess stock was faster. The final bullet for that clutch set up was no engine braking. It's setting box in labeled "should work parts"......for sale cheap.

CTDLS, like i have tell to you un à previous post your trouble is your installation... this kit retain thé engine braking and boost the performance À LOT ! Not even close. Its faster than a RZR 900s an way more responsive. With my new secondary and new weight in the primary my top speed is now 76 mph gps.
All new CF Moto have this set up. No more wet clutch in the 500 and 1000.  Absolutly no downside to this kit.

It's a glowing report but I have a hard time imagining how a different initial takeoff drive system would enable such remarkable increase in performance across the board.
The wet clutch and the dry, both are ways to get the machine from a standing start while in gear to a speed at which either clutch locks up and then it's up to the CVT and its ratios to do the rest.

Reclocking the secondary so that the motor is in a higher and greater power producing RPM when going through it's upshift allows better performance but it would do so with a wet clutch or a dry belt slammer.
The discussion is interesting but I'd sure like to see it.  No offense meant and I'm always up for learning more. :)

The wet clutch delete kit remove about 7 lbs of rotation mass + the new cv tech trail block primary clutch move way easier than the chinese one. That alone is a good upgrade..
its a very common modification in the Wildcat 1000 world.
Combine that with the Power Commander and the exhaust and you have a much more free reving engine.
The difference is night and day. Not even close.
When dialed properly, the engine jump to 7200 rpm instantly and stay there to the top speed where it climb to the rev limiter at 7750 rpm. Try to make that with the stock clutch set up...
I have try all the possibility with the stock one. The R800 kit is the way to go.
Why do you think all CF Moto racing machine have one ???

As an avid mountain sledder clutching is key. Bad clutching will make the best sled very bad & good clutching can make a bad sled work pretty good. I consider myself to be very competent in the area of  Sled clutching, I've wasted thousands of dollars & have 100's if not thousands of hours in the ever changing game of clutching.

I have to say I'm really disappointed in what CFMOTO offer's us & the non existent tuning components by them & CVTech. Our back country ban last season did not help!

Converting the 800 from wet to dry is a huge undertaking, I'm not skeered to take on such a task if good performance improvements are to be had. To undo the conversion is just as daunting.

I've never been one to accept spending money for performance improvement & not seeing results as advertised. This is the reason the R800 kit is back in the box it came in.

I'm like everyone else when buying performance upgrades, eventually I will buy off on the BS & purchase the product. I will install it exactly how I'm instructed, if it works as described awesome. If not the supplier will get a call & we will try & make it work as describe. If it does not work as described & I'm not pissed off & see the potential I will try & make it work myself. I've had success & failures @ this point. I won't hesitate to take it out if it does not work as it should.

All this said, my experience is with dry clutch which is the R800 kit.........& I removed it. I'm not happy with the wet clutch setup either, but its better.

The wet clutch delete kit remove about 7 lbs of rotation mass

Meaningless in the overall driveline, wheels, tires, driveshafts gears etc. Then how close is the weight to the centerline?

There's this and several other videos out there..none very professional or complete with final numbers.. but the consensus is..there are performance gains without the wet clutch..either deleted or never had one..but..there are belt life gains with a wet clutch. I guess it's all in what you are looking for. :) I also guess it's worth noting that no manufacturer uses a wet clutch system in any of their performance-based machines....that I am aware of.

The video of NMKawierider show how the wheels is connected with the throttle with the wet clutch delete kit. The power is now.

If I where you ctdls, I will take the time to reinstall the kit correctly.
I have install 2 of this kit with the exact same result. I play a lot with sled clutching and this kit respond exactly the same. All parts for tuning are available via CV tech . With time and try you will be able to place your engine exactly where you want.

In 2 foot of snow a stock ZForce 800 struggle to keep the rpm over 6000. With the race kit you need to module the throttle if you not want to bounce the rev limiter.
In my vid on youtube you can clearly see how the wheels respond to the throttle input and how the engine rev faster and stay at the same rpm.

If I have time I will try to make better video this weekend

How would I install it correctly? Throw out the directions which did not include the clutch alignment......had to do that afterwards because it was not included.

Correct if I'm wrong as I don't remember, is their a sprag bearing on the fixed half?

I'm all for a dry clutch not @ the expense of engine braking.

This kit we are talking about is sad. Potentially it can be better, without engine brake in the mountains I pulled it.

What are you talking about !
The engine braking is as strong as stock .  That is an indication of a trouble with you installation...
