I just brought home my new 800 and have a simple question.  With my other brand of SXS they advised that I strap down the roof while hauling.  Is this something I need to do with this machine or not....see simple

Weird, my roof is well bolted down and very tough. I can't see any reason to strap it down on my SXS

As long as the front is lower then the back.. the air pressure will push down on it. With the Zs, you would have to put the front wheels on a tool box..or something high enough for it to start lifting to  be a problem.

I haven't done it but it's not such a crazy idea, as extra insurance. Considering that the front of the roof is held just by two small rubber grommet equipped bolts and the roof is an almost 4' X 4' sail, all it would take is one intense and brief negative pressure buffet to tear it off from the front bolts and then with the leverage and air pressure of a lifted front, the back bolts would fail immediately.
The roof is a $477.00 (plus tax) item here in Canada.

I've seen an ATV seat laying on the highway more than once, and they are a lot smaller.

A brilliant idea from another member, I've forgotten just who, was to drill a 1/4" hole in the edge of the roof on each side, just inboard from the rops tube and to put a zip tie around the tube and through it. This way you don't get any of that annoying greenery jammed under the roof when traveling down overgrown trails. (You Moab riders never have that problem, I know )  I just got back from an exploratory ride where the goal is to restore 22 kilometers of overgrown old mine/logging road and it shows. Lots of rubbing.

The zip ties also act as extra insurance that I won't get my roof torn off on the highway. Cheap insurance. Cost of two zip ties.

I also have a little extra from my light bar mounts. Used bar clamps under the plastic and bolted through...so I have four points up front instead of just the two.
