Starter

So I. Have an 18 cforce 500 ho. And I have a clocking at the solenoid so I replaced it and it still does it I'm thinking starter next. But. Thought I'd get some feedback before spending the money

Let's assume you meant clicking.

Is it one click, or multiple clicks?

Assuming an amp test shows nothing unusual, I would suspect a weak battery.

Yep, usually means low or weak battery or poor battery cable connection. Only one click can...and I stress.."can"...also mean a seized starter or... engine.

Yes multiple clicks however sometimes it starts no problem .... do you know the correct battery replacement?

No but it's right on the side. Have you cleaned all battery cable ends ? How about jumping it ?

Everything is clean its practically brand new. I have 57 miles on it lol everything is tight and well grounded I'm thinking the batter I bought for it isnt. Strong enough for the. Quad I saw that the stock one has 400 cca so I'm gonna find a battery. With that aswell

Yup! Sounds like a low amperage/voltage to the solenoid.

As Clark pointed out, a high resistance connection can cause this, so it would be prudent to check, clean and tighten the connections (a known common problem).

You can take the battery to most auto parts stores or and have it tested. Battery Plus will do this too if you have one near you.

These batteries should be kept on a tender when not being used for long periods, and especially in cold weather.
You can try putting it on a charger for a day to see if that brings it back to life.

One other thing you might look at is...the infamous CFM main fuse holder. Hundreds have had internal crimp cold connections and the starter solenoid does take a bit more power to close then any relay so it may not allowing the amperage through necessary to activate the solenoid. Just take a voltage reading after the fuse while holding the key in the starter position. If it drops below say..10...11 volts, you have your answer.
