Where is the starter relay located with the fuse?
« on: November 15, 2020, 10:57:18 AM »
I have a cf moto 8x 800 and I tried to change the battery over, i has it running great Friday but went yesterday to change the battery as it was broken. But now when I try start it there’s no lights on the display or anything, totally dead. Not even with jump leads it’s still dead. Any ideas what could be up??

Many times people miss one of several positive leads to the battery. On the Zs for example the main system supply lead tends to fall into the battery box and is hidden so people don't see it...and ask questions much like this one. :) I would pull the battery and have a second look.

You saying there is more then 1 positive lead? I’m new to these quads so don’t no much at all about them.

Yes, at least on the zs, there are at least two-the main starter cable going to the starter solenoid and one smaller systems power. There can also be one more larger cable for the winch and one other smaller for the PS motor supply if not incorporated in the systems lead.

Any idea where the starter solenoid is? As I think that may need a new fuse in? Just an option to rule out. I had a led light on the front and took that off but there are wires attached to that main wire off the light 1 of which was the winch, and another which had 1 red and 1 black small cables with a black box on it? Is that what I need reconnecting?

Just follow the power cable from the starter back. It will go to the solenoid. There is no fuse there though.

Make sure you have not hit the kill switch on the left handle bar switch cluster, symbol of an engine with a cross on it

Hi have you got a pic of the kill switch? I don’t think I’ve seen it on mine.

Hi Mocky,

Please find attached PDF doc detailing location of engine kill switch, and location of all start circuit relays FYI.

Only relevant if your bike is of the same configuration, information attached is for a C Force 820LE X8 Euro 4 machine.

With dash out and no feed to starter it sounds like typical engine kill switch issues though, my grandchildren often hit my kill switch when the play on my bike, it has caught me out in the past.

Best of luck, keep me posted on your progress.
