volts...
« on: August 14, 2016, 02:58:13 PM »
my C force 800 has a volt metre on the dash, when the engine is idle, the volts drop to about 11.5, but as soon as I pull away, it goes back up to 13.8 ish.
is this fluctuation normal do you think.??
ride it till the wheels fall off !!

May be the volt meter itself but it shouldn't fall below about 12.8 at idle and somewhere between 13.7 and 14.5 at RPMs above 3000. I would just put a multimeter across the battery and get a second opinion. If it is those readings, better get it checked out. May have a bad regulator/rectifier or a failing coil in the stator...or just a bad battery. I would check it soon as low voltage isn't good for many other components like ECUs.

Hi steveo I had exactly same on my dash . Then went out on night ride . Was constantly showing under 12.8 . Got home turned quad off to open garage. And nothing so checked battery with multimeter was showing 12.57 with ignition off as soon as went to start it dropped 10.8 . So I've ordered new battery  mines 2015 so current battery is around 18months old.  Sorry for the essay lol.
