Hi guys , my brother's quad brake lights ain't working. Done the basics and changed bulbs but only tail lights work no brake.
So inspected a little further and see the wiring loom has been hacked a little in the past so doesn't really seem to match up to the manual I was looking at unless there's a different manual for the 2014 version?
I'm just trying to figure out what wires go to where and what should have continuity and what voltage and ground.
As far as I can tell it looks like there is a small brake lever switch on the front brake.
Checked continuity of the switch contacts but nothing so presumed this was the fault . I then put a joing cable on the 2 leads coming off but still no lights?
I've traced both these cables and they both go to the middle of quad . I get continuity on each cable.
I presume these would have gone into some form of connector but it's been hacked off and joined to a brake sensor attached to a spring . This looks like it's seen better days so I've removed that and again tested lights with and without a jumper wire and still nothing .
I also noticed a small 2 pin plug disconnected in the same area and this looks like it's into the back of the brake hydraulics. I presume this is a hydraulic pressure switch?
I've checked continuity from the two prongs on the brake bulb to the wires in the centre joint and one has continuity.
Any ideas what/ where to test/ bypass next
Fuse is fine
Brake relay seems okay , but swapped with another just in case .
Is there any diagrams of the wiring loom solely for the brake system electrics as there must be something I'm missing .
Also it seems like there is continuity from both the negative and positive battery terminals of the battery to the chassis ? It's been a long day so I might be missing something obvious. I presume if there was a short it wouldn't run or fuses would be blown.
Cheers
