Handle Bar Heaters
« on: September 21, 2017, 07:17:13 AM »
I'm starting to research some heaters for the hands. Has anyone found anything they really like?

Factory grips are very nice, I'm wondering if the cct board heaters would fit under them.

Wealth of information in this forum  :)

I like the type the goes under any grips you like. Last one I did, i found a dpdt rocker for high and low. One switch for the grips and thumb. Mounted it to the pod housing and it blended right in. Plan on not saving the factory grips. They should be glued on and won't come off without a fight.

Tx's for the reply  :) Did you replace the grips with factory or aftermarket?

Aftermarket grips. I had to cut off the oem ones due to glue. There a ton of options out there for grips. I don't use glue when putting new ones on. Should be 7/8" but double check.

I have found the pads under the grips to be luke warm at best and not worth the trouble to fit them.
These are really good and hot. I fitted a set of these last winter and even in -7C they were still hot enough on high to be comfortable. Only two wires to connect and switch on left bar built in. Can recommend them. You may have to sleeve the right one (I used two layers of heatshrink) as they are made for motorcycles.

I had the symtec ones. Look at the trace on the pads. There are a lot more on these and they can get hot.

Tx's for the input  :) For giggles we tried to remove a grip the other day by blowing compressed air between the bar & grip. Work perfectly, just blew air to release the grip all the way around & off it came  ;D

The stock grips are comfortable so we are going to try the cct board style & save the the OE grips. Simple hi/low toggle switch.

If you were able to get the grips off clean, great. They must have not used glue. I used a DPDT rocker and hooked the thumb heater it it also. Thumb heaters are worth it in the frozen wastelands.

I use the heat demon heated grips, they are super easy to use and they use a clamp on design which can be used to take on and off. for 100 dollars plus prime on amazon it comes with 2 heated grips plus a heated thumb warmer and you just have to follow the directions which is very easy, it takes three plugs and then connect it to the battery or to an accessory outlet.
