Radiator Cleaning
« on: October 28, 2016, 03:12:39 PM »
Has anyone found any tricks for cleaning these radiators and oil coolers? I can clean the radiator on my wife's King Quad 750 with a garden hose in 20 minutes without taking anything apart. On my CForce 800 I tear the front end apart, remove the fan, use a hose, pressure washer a whole can of coil cleaner and my radiator/oil cooler still isn't completely clear. My temp is running at 3-4 bars on the dash.

Is there another brand radiator that I can retrofit in there?

If you are having that much of an issue might consider a relocation kit for them. From the looks of your machine in your avatar, it might be a necessity...lol

After my warranty expires I'm going to move the radiator. I do like to play in the mud:

This was it's second trip.

Try some screen in front of it. They have some made out of the same fabric as filter covers. Should help keep most of the mud out. What about window screen? It should work for now.

Also I made a 90 degree end for my pressure washer that helps get into tight places.

I like this idea a lot. I was going to make a 90 degree air tip, but this sounds more effective. What sort of spray degree is on it? Any pointers on how you built yours?

I just used a brass 1/4" 90 and a close nipple. I use my widest angle spray tip...but I have not used it or needed it on the radiator so it might be a good idea to ...not use a 3100psi pressure washer that close to the fins. Something in the 600psi and less would be better.. I think. Air is a good idea too.

Here's some pics. I have two wands. One with the 90 for getting in and under places and a straight shorty for general stuff.

and the shorty:

Both powered by my 3100psi gas pressure washer:

Thank you for the pictures, that's helpful. I'll have to take a trip to the hardware store and build one of these. It looks useful for getting in all sorts of places. Mine is 2000PSI and I can turn it down really low. Low enough to clean boots and other delicate areas without causing damage.
