Bleeding brakes
« on: January 18, 2017, 06:33:00 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a specific procedure to bleeding the brakes on a Cforce 800. I replaced my brakes pads and decided to change the brake fluid and bleed the brakes. The front brakes went without any issues. The Cforce 800 has two bleed nipples on the each of the front calipers. The hand lever controls the front brakes only and the foot lever controls the front and rear. I started to bleed the brakes from the foot lever and pumped it and released the bleeder nipple on front caliper and lever when down as normal. I closed the nipple and then pumped the lever and nothing. I can not get any pressure at all on the lever. I tried it again and nothing, no pressure and no fluid coming out of the nipple. I tried it on the other front caliper and rear caliper and nothing. The brake fluid is full in the rear cylnder but I can not get any fluid from any nipple and no pressure. Anyone have any idea where I can go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

As I am looking at the brake system on the X8, I see the front calipers are a dual-pressure system so that's why the two bleeders. The handle bar brake/master cylinder will pressure one side.. I assume...and only the front calipers per the lay-out.. and the rear master will pressure the other side of the front calipers. The rear master also had a second system for the single caliper on the rear. So..while applying pressure to the foot brake you should be able to open the rear bleed and let fluid out. This should also be true with the correct bleeds on the front calipers. Looks to be a two-person job unless you own a power bleeder. Basic bleeding always works though as in: Apply pressure to the master and hold down while opening the bleeder, then close bleeder, then release lever to recharge fluid, then repeat not letting the reservoir run empty.

Thanks NMK you are totally correct. I did exactly what you outlined but no success. I did the front brakes with no issues. I pumped the foot brake and opened the bleeder value on the front caliper and the foot brake went down as it should and fluid came out of the valve as it should. I then closed the bleeder valve and released the foot brake and went to pump it up again and nothing. I keep pumping and nothing. I tried the bleeder valve on the other front caliper and the rear caliper and nothing. No pressure on the foot brake and no fluid coming out of either bleeder valve. There is a 4 wheel master cylinder attached to the foot brake. This is what controls the pressure for the brakes. I am thinking there is an issue with this. Any thoughts?

My gut is telling me that because of the design of the rear master..as in single stage piston, you may need to release the rear and one front at the same time while applying pressure on the peddle. Try that.  The front's bleeder for the rear system won't be that same one as the front lever's.

Thanks agian NMK. I'll give that a try. Should I have someone open the front as I open the rear or can I open the rear then the front then close the rear then the front by myself?

The main issue I have is I can not get any pressure on the foot pedal to push out fluid?..

Need someone to help..just to hold pressure on the peddle. I would crack the back bleeder first then move to a front one. Don't let up on the peddle until both are closed though.

The piston in the master cylinder was stuck or frozen. Used a heat gun to heat it up and gave it a few taps with a hammer and it came loose. Bleed the brakes and all is perfect again.

Thanks for your input NMK, appreciate it.

If a new master cly. is cheap enough, I would have one handy in case it happens again and you really don't want to wait for parts.
