Hey guys,
I just bought a new 2019 cforce 800 XC, it has less than 50 KM on it. I have a few questions since It's my first ATV I'm not really too sure what might be happening here. I know I have a 5 yr warranty so Im not too worried, but Im hoping it's something I can take care of myself without a service call.

Firstly, the bike often stalls when I give it a little gas to start it moving. It feels like it could be electrical as the dash with flicker when this happens. I have to really play with the throttle to get it going without stalling. This isnt every time, but often. Then the bike wont start, it will try but not turn over. I have to turn the power off for a minute then try again and it starts.

Second, I went on a 15KM trek through some trails yesterday and found my right leg to be very warm. Is it normal that so much heat comes off the engine on the right side? I mean it was REALLY hot.

Lastly, I find it hard to change gears, I push the brake and shift through the gears, it seems quite difficult at times. Should it be smooth or is this normal?

Thanks for any help, appreciate being a member here!
Cheers,
-EG

The stumble/stall accelerating from idle is a known problem - a dealer item to fix.

Engine heat after long ride? Normal. Might try installing some heat reflector and/or wrap the exhaust pipes.

Hard to shift!!! Not normal. These things shift smooth and easy - like butter! . The dealer will need to fix that too.

well,
my 800 XC has come home from the shop twice and going back in now for the 3rd time. Same issues as I have had since day 1. Total croak of engine coming off Idle after 20 to 30 miles of ride. At first i was thinking something with the Vegas Summer heat. Nope... its 60 to 70 degrees now and same issues. Computer Re flashed. Valves adjusted, One way valves in vent system had some work or replaced and I dont know what all else any more. Anyone else struggling like this?

Dealer replaced my ecu. Still haven't tested it on a long enough ride yet though.

Probably a bad TPS and only goes bad when it gets hot. Happened on some others. No matter what I would press the issue- either fix it or refund my money.

One other thought- if the tank vent check is stuck shut, that's also about how long it takes for the engine to use enough fuel to pull enough vacuum on the fuel tank to about stop the fuel flow. Easy enough to check. When it acts up just loosen the gas cap to relieve the vacuum. If it runs OK again, you have your answer.

My 800 XC also has the hot stall issue and all of the following "fixes" were applied under warranty by CFMOTO.

ECU reflash.
Valve Adjustment.
Fuel breather canister plumbing changed / re-routed.

It is still occurring.  However, the good news is CFMOTO is not done trying to correct this issue for everyone.  I reengaged them yesterday regarding the issue and have included their reply below.  Therefore, continue to engage your dealers when this issue occurs.

Thank you for contacting CFMOTO-USA.  CFMOTO-USA is fully aware of the problem you are experiencing, and our Service Team has been diligently working toward a temporary countermeasure that will yield satisfactory results to owners of CFORCE ATVs. This temporary countermeasure has recently been approved, and will be officially released soon. Unfortunately, no details can provided directly to you.

Please contact the CFMOTO dealership of your choice and arrange to have your CFORCE scheduled for a free repair at no cost to you. Your CFMOTO dealer should be instructed to call the Technical Service and Warranty Department, who are ready and waiting to walk dealers through the repair process until the official documentation is released.

We apologize for the time this has taken, and remain committed to providing CFMOTO owners with quality products and dealership services.

Best Regards,
CFMOTO

Im really losing my mind here and not sure what to do.
I had the issue again yesterday, luckily I was with a group of guys and we all had to turn back together. I couldnt get up a hill cause it would keep stalling when I gave it any gas. The dealer changed the ECU last august, I havent taken it out for a long trip again in the heat until yesterday. It's dangerous and unreliable. I called CFMoto Canada and they said it's something to do with the cannister?? So it looks like the dealer is gonna change that now. The dealership I went to said they dont give a shit cause I didnt buy the machine from them (literally). I couldnt believe what I was hearing... I dont even know what to say about that, all the guy cared about is that I didnt wash my machine before bringing it to him....These guys should be stripped of their right to sell CFMoto and represent them like that, what a joke!

I feel like my machine is a lemon and falling apart, it;s a 2019 XC 800 with 1000 km on it. the first time I had the problem there was under 300KM.

Here is the letter I wrote to CFMoto - What is my recourse here? If they dont fix it, can i demand a new machine?? I really dont know what to do next...

machine - 2019 cforce 800 xc, 1000km
without prejudice

1. last August my machine kept stalling. the dealer replaced the ecu and said it was fixed. Yesterday is the first chance I had to go on the trails again, it did it again and I was stuck in the woods on the trail. luckily I was with other people and they helped me get back. this absolutely needs to be fixed, it's a big safety hazard, I almost got killed on a hill when it stalled and started rolling backwards. it's not reliable. I want it fixed for good, or you can replace my machine. it's a 2019, this is completely unacceptable.

2. Riding along yesterday, the handle on my passenger seat fell off. nobody was sitting there, it just fell off! I have it, looks like the bolt broke. come on, it's a practically new machine! I spoke with cfmoto Canada and apparently there are fixes in place for this. it cannot happen again.

3. my winch - the free pull does not work. my friend has a cfmoto and his free pull works. I need to use the motor to undo the winch everytime. please fix this or replace the winch.

4. the hook for my winch fell off yesterday riding. it's gone. how could that happen? it's also a safety hazard. imagine if that came off when I was pulling 2000 lbs? it would have whipped back and killed me.

Can you please work together between my dealer (Seguin) and CFmoto Canada and let me know next steps here? I absolutely want number 1 and 3 addressed or a replacement machine. I can fix the handle myself. I am on the verge of selling it and buying a different brand but I would rather keep this one and feel that it's reliable. right now, it is not reliable at all.

thank you.

Please advise...

Per my last post on this topic, it appears like there is now a reliable countermeasure that any dealer can implement for you to address the hot stall issue.

I called a number dealers that have implemented the current countermeasure on a number of units that have regularly exhibited the hot stall issue.  The dealers I spoke to have confirmed that it has cleared up the issue with these units.

Someone posted the official service bulletin under this topic but it appears it was promptly removed.  I believe CFMoto is keeping the temporary countermeasure on the down low as it is a modification of the emission system.

The latest countermeasure for the "hot stall" issue is to disconnect the EVAP canister from the Throttle Body and cap the inlet to the Throttle Body.

The reason given is, when the engine is hot and the air temperature is 21C or more, the EVAP system can build so much fuel vapor going into the Throttle Body that the EFI system can't compensate for it.

just spoke to the shop, they won't do this (disable to emissions system) but he is replacing the cannister. if it stalls on me again I will bypass the emissions system myself by capping the throttle body.

can anyone explain how to do that? is it complicated? any instructions or videos would be helpful.

thanks

Remove the top and left side plastic panels.  You'll see a fuel line looking tube that runs from the canister under the left rear fender area to the throttle body.  Disconnect the line from the throttle body and tie wrap the line to the frame and cap the inlet to the throttle body.  Alternatively, you could disconnect the line that runs from the canister to the throttle body from the canister and plug the line there.
