Rear swingarm pivot bolt torque?
« on: July 15, 2025, 09:54:10 PM »
2022 Cforce 800XC
Yes, I have The Manual - and building a solid set of weird tools on the way.
I'm working on wheel bearing inspections and just finished the front (3147miles) which are tight and smooth.
They feel great. Everything I've heard is they tend to take a beating but mine are in good shape.
Found the torque specs for those just fine and the basic ones for the caliper bolts, axle nut etc are the same front and rear.

What I am not finding is the Torque value for the large pivot shaft nut on tthe front of the rear arm. (it's a 27 mm nut with a 22mm head on the shaft)
I haven't taken it apart yet and I'm not in a bind, rush or hurry.

Taking my time "gettin er done" for my first time.

But I've flipped through section six (found all the other torque values) but I am not seeing the value for the pivot shaft nut.

Any ideas where it's at or does someone know it off the top of their head so I can write it down in the margin of a random page and forget what page it's on?

For myself I just can't picture what exactly it is that has shaft, nut and heads that size. Maybe some pics would help. In any case when I can't find a torque spec I just find what it has using my torque wrench a click or two at a time until I find it knowing that it may be slightly high when it finally moves toward tighter before it clicks. I write down about 5lbs less.

See if this works.
If it does it is part 6/7. (one for each side)
The clearance is a bit difficult to access and I cant get a straight shot in with a torque handle.
On the outer end there is a support bracket for the floorboard mounts and in the middle the rear driveshaft passes in between them.
I can get a combination wrench on the nuts (inner end) but I can't get a clean line without extensions on the head (outer end).

Oh.."trailing arm" suspension and of course.. the Chinese would call them "swing arms". Well, I would see what it has now and go from there.

It doesn't help that the manual is written with a different sense of "order of progress" than the english language either.

I had to replace an oil pump drive gear and it took a bit to find the Specs for the "magneto rotor" retainer bolt.

Theres pictures and process that says "remove the big bolt" and "reassembly is the opposite of removal" . . but no torque spec for the thing that Ive found.

Oh and never mind that they call things something other then we do and...that they may show two different torque specs in two different places in a manual..or not at all anywhere. Not to mention their translators should be fired.
