My 800XC will constantly idle high, i lierally have to shut it off just to change gears.The only thing i have done to it is install a new battery.Any help appreciated.

Mine with 600 miles on it was doing the same thing.  I replaced the IAC valve and that solved the problem.  It is easy to replace it once the air box is out of the way. If you can turn a screw driver and unplug a connector, you can do this and not pay $$ for a shop to. $86 part on ebay.
