Duel rate spring options
« on: June 03, 2021, 08:27:57 AM »
About to get my stock 800xc shocks re valved for a better ride. Curios if any one knows of a duel rate spring setup that would work on these shocks?  May a polaris spring or another brand?

Probably no one. Because of the "special" dimensions, working with Bandit we had to custom-make the springs to work with the CFM shocks for the Z Force. Instead of re-valving those CFM shocks which will never be as good or last as long as Elkas or Bandits, If it were ne, I would go to Elka or Bandit and have a talk about some custom make shocks. Not cheap...but they will be forever...and add value to your machine. Just thinking out loud. :)

I agree with the shock upgrade but just dont want to spend the money lol..  My shock guy that does my snowmobile shocks should do a pretty good job..   I dont expect them to be as good as a Elka but should be a good improvement.  I cant see spending 2k on shocks that I only spent 8k for the machine ...

Well guys,
Had my 800xc shocks sent out to my shock guy who does all my snowmobile shocks and does alot of ATV shocks ( It is his business )..   It was his first time really digging into this shock brand .   Well come to find out the rezzi on the shock is kind of make believe if you will and more for looks as the port hole is way to small to really do anything.  The shocks where built completely wrong from the factory and he wondered how they even worked .  He also stated that they were severely under valved and the machine must be running on a crap load of spring preload .  The plus is that they use standard 12mm valving so we set them up with the same valving as a CanAm Outlander Max..  I could tell on this machine that although it gave some sort of comfort ride on a smooth surface , when you pushed it in any kind of terrain something just wasn't right and I could never adjust it out or find a real and I mean real happy medium..   I guess for someone not used to shock setups or new to the offroad experience they would never tell..  I will try this setup out this weekend and let you guys know the outcome .

Bound to be way better. At least we now know with the right guy/company, they can be rebuilt....and re-made better.

Well…have you had a chance to test it out?  I blew both my rear shocks yesterday…finding very little aftermarket support…I’d love to upgrade to elka but out of my price range…my next thought is if any other manufacturers shocks may fit out xc’s?
