Hi guys, sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I'm looking to do my own maintenance for the first time rather than letting the stealership do it. If got the engine oil and filter, and I bought gear oil 80w90. I'm assuming that the gear oil is for the transmission? Or is that for the diff?  Or am I using the same oil in both?

The new 800 and 1000s no longer share the same oil between the engine and transmission. The transmission now used the same gear oil as the two diffs...well the front diff and rear gear case (Its not a differential in the US). And just so you know, you can use a synthetic gear oil and..it can be 75w90 to help out in colder weather times.
