4wd not engaging
« on: February 05, 2020, 08:13:45 AM »
2019 800 xc with 650KM on it. When i put it in 4wd it shows 4wd on the dash but theres no power to the front wheels. I know cause I took it out in the snow and only the rear wheels were spinning in 4wd and I was fishtailing all over the place.

Anyways, brought it into the shop, I am going to assume this is a mechanical problem and will be covered under the 5 year warranty. Anyone else have something like this happen with their machine?

If you hear the actuator move..kind of a hum...and the dash indicator shows it to be in 4wd but it is not, most likely the plastic slide piece that the actuator moves has some broken teeth. This happens most often when someone puts it into 4wd when moving with power on the drive train. Just drain the oil, remove the 4 actuator Allen bolts, gently work the unit out without damaging the O-Ring and you can see the plastic slider. If it looks OK, you can also work it manually with your finger to see if anything else feels funky. If broken remove the pin on the side to replace the slider. I don't remember if the fork comes with it or not. But many have broken teeth off that slider before.

Cool thanks, well it's in the shop and Im hoping it's covered under the 5 yr warranty. Doesnt sound like a very difficult or expensive fix if it's not covered.

Appreciate the info!

Just heard from the shop, it's my CV joint that needs to be replaced. 2019 xc with 650km, wtf? Would this be typically covered under warranty? If not what kind of price tag an I looking at?

I would think it should be covered but they would be the ones to ask.

Just heard back, 100% covered by warranty. I'm really impressed with CFMoto. Great customer service honoring their warranty and standing behind their product.
