2019 CForce 800 XC, any concerns?
« on: February 27, 2019, 07:48:53 AM »
I know the 2019 CForce 800 XC is brand new in all areas compared to prior CForce 800 models (chassis and engine) and as of this time there are not many out there.  However, I took a chance and pulled the trigger on purchasing one.

Any 2019 CForce 800 XC owners out there that have discovered any issues or concerns?

I had a minor one related to the oil pressure light / alarm.  On a cold start, the oil light stays on long enough to produce 2 to 3 beeps out of the oil pressure alarm.  Initially, this felt a little long to me.  However, it is very cold right now here in PA and began to wonder if it was just related to the freezing cold conditions (thick oil).  So I stopped by my local CFMoto dealer to have them show me a cold start on their demo 2019 CForce 800 XC and it does the same thing (oil light stays on long enough for 2 to 3 beeps to come from the oil pressure alarm).  Therefore, at this point I am going to assume it is normal.  On the up side it is good to know the oil pressure light / alarm is sensitive enough to catch true issues if they do arise due to oil pump problems while operating the machine.

Anyone experiencing anything else?

I don't know what oil is in it.  I just took delivery of the machine from my dealer last week.  Do these machines come from CFMoto loaded with oil or is it the dealer's responsibility to fill them with fluids before delivery?

After the test I mentioned at the dealer, I no longer believe it is a concern.  Oil pressure comes up quick once the engine is warm and no oil pressure warnings or alarms experienced while running.

Thanks for the insight regarding the CFMoto oil.  What ever is in it, it won't be in there long as I will be changing it after the recommended 20 hour breaking period.

what i know cf moto put in some oil in the machines from factory. not 100% sure. From what i know i heard from a few people in sweden that the oil is too thick in cold temperatures. and as yopu say it's nothing wrong when the engine don't get oilpreausre imideatly. it takes a small amount of thime to get the oil around the engine

If it were me, I would give it one additional oil change well prior to that first 20-hour change...say after 5 hours. 90+ percent of an engine's break-in happens within the first hour anyway.. so why not get that bulk metal filings out of there right away...and some of these CFM engines make a lot.  Something I have always practiced with any engine. And while at it, why not use an oil better suited for the temps it's in right now...like a 0w30 or 40 :)

I'll also bet CFM has upgraded their low oil pressure warning system so more people will pay attention to the oil light.

I agree with NMKawierider. Especially when the weather is cold out, change your motor oil more often. My Uforce 800 has just under 400 km on it and has had the oil changed three times already. My dealer here in Canada uses Lucas 10W-40 in all their machines. Great oil but not so much once the temp starts to dip. It has been an unseasonably cold January and February all across Canada and the US this year. Before I went riding in the snow with my tracks in January I put this oil into my machine as I knew it would be sitting out at night in very cold temperatures and I wanted that oil flowing to the top end immediately on startup in the morning. We worked the machine very hard in the snow for over two hundred kilometers and it did not use a drop. Plus for a premium synthetic motor oil of this viscosity, it is very reasonable in price.

And people are starting to use 0w40 year-round now anyway. Can't hurt to get it to the parts as fast as possible.

Thank you all for your input and your insight regarding using 0W-40 in cold weather conditions.

Good to know tolerances are tight enough that you can run a 0W oil in them and not lose it to consumption.

I will also take the advice to change it much before the documented 20 hour "break in" period.  This is very cheap insurance. :)

Also I'm assuming the new 800s still have a wet clutch so make sure whatever oil you use is JASO MA2 rated...and I would stay with a conventional until it's broke in. Then go to a good synthetic.

Here is a link to a review done in Canada on the new CForce 800 XC.

http://atvguys.ca/2018/12/13/2019-cfmoto-cforce-800-xc-long-term-review-part-one/

They have eliminated the wet clutch in the new motor.

no wet clutch in the 800xc/850xc but the still recomend jaso rated oil. Don't know why, or if something else need jaso oil in the engine.

Thank you singlemalt for the Canada article / link.  It sounds like reliability is off to a good start.  I am looking forward to the Feb. / March update that they promised in the article.

It looked like a mechanically good machine to me also which is why I bought one.  Looks can sometimes be deceiving.  I am hoping in this case they are not.  Time will tell.  I will keep everyone posted with my personal experience as time progresses.  Most of our trails are still closed in my part of PA so I won't get some serious time on the machine for a few more months yet.

I see. We ride potter county several times a year.  We stay at potter county family campground.  Will be there end of may.
