2022 CForce 625 Touring - Sudden Power Loss, RPM Limited to 5000, No Warning Lig

Hey guys,

Looking for some help with my 2022 CFMOTO CForce 625 Touring. I was out riding the other day, cruising at about 95 km/h, when suddenly the engine lost power. I coasted to a stop, and when I tried to take off again, the machine would barely move—top speed is now around 8 km/h and the RPM won't go past 5,000.

What I've checked so far:

    Belt: Thought it was the CVT belt at first. The old one looked glazed, so I swapped it out for a brand new one. No change at all.

    Primary & Secondary Clutches: Pulled them both off and inspected them thoroughly. Weights, rollers, springs, and ramps all look good—nothing sticking, worn, or broken. They seem to be working fine.

    Error Codes: No warning lights on the dash—the only light that comes on is the low fuel warning.

    Hard Reset: Disconnected the battery for a full hour to reset the ECU. Still the same issue.

Symptoms:

    Sudden loss of power at high speed

    Won't exceed ~8 km/h

    RPM hits a hard wall at 5,000

    No engine light, no flashing codes

What I'm thinking:

    Could it be a faulty reverse/4WD switch triggering a speed limiter?

    Maybe a bad TPS (throttle position sensor) not throwing a code?

    Fuel pump or filter issue?

    Something else I'm missing?

The CVT system seems completely fine mechanically, so I'm leaning toward an electrical or sensor issue at this point.

Has anyone else experienced this on a 625 or similar CFMOTO model? Any ideas on what to check next? I'm open to testing sensors or anything else—just need a direction to go in.

However, what ever happens please do not rush out and get a new O2 sensor, this is the big mistake everyone makes! The fault could be occurring due something else causing the O2 sensor creating an error. For example, any of the wires connecting the O2 sensor to the injection ECU could be at fault. There could be an exhaust leak somewhere close to the O2 sensor, there could also be an air leak somewhere on the induction system. There is loads of rubber tubing on the intake systems of these CFMOTO side by side's and ATV's, they perish or crack cause intake leaks and flag up P error codes for the O2 sensor. So, check all of this first before you rush out and obtain a new O2 sensor, but once more before you do that remove the O2 sensor and check and test it first. There are loads of You Tube Videos out there explain how to test an O2 sensor.

Sorry to learn of your challenges with RPM's shutdown.
I think firstly it would wise council to advise you stop looking at mechanical issues like the belt. These do not shut down engine RPM or place the ride in "Limp home Mode" which is what is happening with your ride.
"Limp Home Mode" is a common function on all EFI systems ATV's cars, trucks etc, its purpose is to protect the engine form further damage until the fault is fixed.
So, my first key advice is to look at the EFI and ignition systems, I strongly suspect the fault lies in these areas as the majority components in these systems will make the EFI switch to "Limp Home Mode" the O2 sensor is a favourite for this.
However, whatever happens please do not rush out and get a new O2 sensor, this is the big mistake everyone makes!
