Looking to get prepared for the end of my break in period and preform service. In the manual it says the valves should be adjusted. I know my arctic cat needs a valve adjustment every season and its pretty easy to do.

Looking for a how to video to see how hard it is to get to the valves and adjust on a 500s

Probably won't find one but the process is the same as any other- Dead cold on TDC of the compression stroke. Set mid what ever range indicated in the manual.

I'm sure there are vids on single-cylinder and other similar engine types out there. The CFM 500 is new enough that there may not be any yet..but I'll take a look.

This looks to be for the "classic" 500. If you have the newer 500 than I think it has a plastic valve cover. This will make it easier to get the feeler gages in there for sure. Make sure if this is the case that you use the specs from the 500ho manual.

The 2018 500s is the same motor as the ho right?
Reason i ask is i find more info if i search info on the 500ho

All need to be adjusted during breakin...say within the first 500-800 miles or so. After that check them within the next 600-800 to see if they have changed..and to get a feel for how long you can go before they get out of range. A normal engine with good oil, on a good change schedule, good air filtration, no or little abuse and no overheating can usually go at least 2000 miles between settings..many times even more.

Yes the 500s should be the same engine as the 500ho. I believe the 500s shares the same chassis with the 400/450, also.
