Low Idle
« on: September 25, 2021, 08:11:38 AM »
I have a new (22 hours) CForce 500. I’m having issues with the machine dying during rides and giving inconsistent power. I looked at the RPM and they are 950-1050 at idle. It looks like this is supposed to sit closer to 1400 rpm. Where is the idle adjustment screw located? Not sure if this has a factor in it, but the idle rpm issues started happening when the outdoor temperatures dropped. It’s about 30° cooler outside now versus when I bought it.

Most EFI systems, including CFM's don't use a butterfly adjustment to control the amount of air or throttle it gets at idle. They use an electronic valve called an idle air valve..which is controlled by the ECU...also which CFM has had a lot of problems with especially in the CForces. I hear it and the TPS sensor are built into the throttle body (TB) and in most cases have to be replaced as a unit. Check with your dealer to see if it's still covered under warranty...it should be.
