How hot is OK. How many bars on thermostat?
« on: July 24, 2021, 07:59:10 AM »
How hot is OK.  I have a Cforce 500,  and it always seems to run hot.  Not just from the exhaust, but on the display.  It seems to always run at top or second to top bar on display.  I have a 600 that always runs at 2 bars.  What does the 500 run at?

First it's important to note that there is some variation on calibration but on average 2-3 bars is normal. Momentary 4 bars in higher or harder working conditions is also normal. Higher or more bars then that is not normal and has proven to be harmful.

My 2021 has hit three bars in mud and working hard. Two bars is the norm for me.

On my 2015 CForce 500, it runs normally at 3 bars.  4 bars and the fan kicks in  to bring it back down to 2-3 bars.

On the hottest of hot days and working it hard I've seen it get to 5 bars.

In my experience if it goes above 5 you have some sort of issue.  Either your water pump is leaking (check for coolant coming from the weep hole) or your fan isn't kicking in.  I would say if you're still able to run it sounds like the fan isn't working or the switch that kicks it in doesn't.

I've replaced the water pump 2 times and when it starts weeping it doesn't take long for it to get up to the top of the guage.  I've never run it when it got to the top, ended up in one case had to be towed out as with the heat on the day it was not cooling down at all to be able to limp it back out.
