Did the 20 hour oil change and maintenance on 2021 CForce 500. We installed the new oil filter and oil filter cover.
Top left bolt would not Torque. The right side and bottom bolt torqued no issues. Ran the machine, no leaks.
Yes we had the correct Torque. Pretty sure this bolt may have been this way from the factory.

Has anyone else had this issue, and what did you do for the next oil change?

I have not and know of no one that has but...I think they are just 6mm bolts (8mm heads) and very soft. Pull the bolt and determine which threads stripped, either the bolt or the case..case is aluminum but at that size anything is possible. If the case, then I would have to consider either going up one size with a tap and drill or using a helicoil. If its the bolt...just get a new one.

Another option if it's the case...and the hole is dead-ended (not drilled all the way inside) is to flush it with brakeclean, mix up some JB weld and fill it, then re-drill and tap it for that same bolt.

I know this has been out there a while but I too have an issue with my 2021 CFMOTO 500S with the first oil change. After pulling the drain plug on the first oil change a stream of metal bits came out of the engine. It was shocking. At first I was like what? I thought the engine had blown or something. What I found after draining the oil was the inter threads were coming out of the drain. Meaning some type of thread job had been done and that thread sleeve was coming undone and out into my drained oil. Shocking. I've never seen anything like this with an ATV. This was the first oil change on the 500S. We just dropped it off at the dealership we purchased it from and they didn't give us any indication it would be covered under our extended warranty. We've got 20 hours on this thing and we don't use it much. Again the first time the plug was pulled. The damage is unbelievable for a bike we purchased 1 1/2 years ago and just did the first oil change.

Pulling the drain plug threads out of the case is far more common then it should be. Just takes an extra couple of ft lbs torque then the book calls for and that's it. Someone other then the factory has had their hands on that plug before. The first step to repair is the heli-coil until that also pulls out or fails to seal. Then next step is drill and tap for a larger plug.

This is common? Och!  :( Well, This CFMOTO was purchased off the dealership showroom floor and it's always been in my possession. So the only one who touched this is the dealership and the only direction that plug turned was out, so it is a sad case that the plug was stripped most likely by the factory or the dealership. Sad case.

Then I would address this with the dealership and CFM as it came to you this way.

You've been very helpful. You told me something that gave me a hint to what those pieces are that came pouring out of my CFMOTO 500S engine. Very helpful. For the life of me I had never seen thread pieces come spitting out of a ATV, and I've worked on a few ATV and a ton of bikes, since I've been riding for 40 years and I'm now 54. LOL I've changed lots of oil, doing my own basic maint. I mean I don't get real deep, just enough to do the basic maint. You mentioned heli-coil. I have never seen someone screw up enough and need to use something like this.. NOW I HAVE! I get what these pieces are now, they are pieces of heli-coil. I have in all my years never seen anything as messed up as this from a company selling me a bike. I'm going to include pictures of the pieces which you will clearly see is the heli-coil they installed at the dealership or the factory.. Just wow.. Hey, I've seen worse. My new Ram 1500 truck made it home, pulled it into the garage and the gas tank, yea the fuel tank was nearly dragging on the ground. Yep, maiden voyage from the dealership and the tank was dragging on the ground.. They said kind of the same thing you did, when I brought it to their attention, someone must of touched it.. HOW FUNNY!! NOT FUNNY!

Well..heli-coils are steel. That looks like just the aluminum threads pulled out. But a magnet will tell you one way or the other. If just the OE threads, that also means you may be able to use a heli-coil to repair it. Check out YT on some videos.

I found them made out of aluminum and mixed metals both. I suppose the Chinese didn't want to spend too much on steel when they messed up my bike.

While Heli-Coil has saved my bacon on motorcycles in years past, I would immediately opt to drill and tap for a much more course and stronger thread.

By the way, this isn't just an issue with a Chinese macine...  I have had to do this plenty with Honda's.  It is just the game that has to be played with soft metal.
