Cforce 520 Starter Motor Removal/Change
« on: April 26, 2023, 08:03:07 AM »
My Cforce 520 just clicks when I press the starter. I've googled quite a bit and done the following:
- Charged the battery and ensured it does lose much charge over 2-3 days - it doesn't so I think it's good.
- Removed and check the solenoid (all checked OK).
- Tried to jump-start form a car battery (the same clicking when I try to start).

My next check is the starter motor. I've removed the 4 bolts and the starter motor slides out OK, but I can't fully remove it because it will not pass the other engine parts.

Is there a technique I should use to remove the starter (so I can test it by connecting directly to the battery) or does the engine need to be taken apart to remove it (in which case I'll need a mechanic)?

Any help, advise or video greatly appreciated.

Although I have never done it on one of these, starter motors in general should just slide out. Some have had to rotate and slightly angle them at the end but they should just slip out. Be mindful that the shaft is splined and had to be inserted into the drive gear straight and lined-up but on the way out after it has cleared the gear you can flex or rotate the motor as needed unless the case noise (the part with the O-ring) won't let you.
