Switching from 4x4 to 2x4
« on: December 27, 2016, 09:21:05 PM »
So I just picked up a new cforce 500 ho...nice machine thus far, however I have noticed one problem. I put a mile on it and now it is stuck in 4x4. No matter what I do. I have driven it another mile and it still won't shift out of 4x4 or shift into locked mode. I checked everything I can think of...fuses good, relays good. When the machine is off you can hear the actuators going when clicking the buttons... I thought maybe it's the screen but I went on my icy driveway and all 4 tires are trying to spin while sitting, the button is in the 2wd position. I have appointment with dealer on Friday, but it's an hour drive...any suggestions?

I'm told all CFM actuator systems are pretty much the same and if that's true, there is a piece of plastic gear between the actuator rotor and the coupler that can break if not engaged as designed...ie engaged while under power or while the wheels are turned and moving. This may not be the problem but it might be.

Got it fixed today..it was a faulty solenoid...they said they are cheap and have seen a few just burn up.

It is number 44 in the diagram...had to take some plastic off to get to the wire that runs up to the dash. The box is right behind the drivier tire on the lower part of the engine/transmission. Glad it was under warranty would be a pricey fix. The little motor was still function but the gears it spins became dislodged or broke. They replaced the whole unit. It looks like a gear box...sorry I was not able to snap a picture. Works great now tho!
