muffler bracket
« on: June 08, 2018, 05:11:18 PM »
400 miles and the bracket for the muffler broke off where it welds to the frame. I was 2 miles up the mountain. any advice to repair it. going to put a kit together with wire in case it happens again. I still have it kick put of gear sometimes as well. just acts like 2 drive gears aren't meshing, if I let it idle down then it engages again. would love some advice on that as well

You know..on others makes this is a sign of loose engine mounts. The shifter gate is affixed to the frame and when the engine moves it can pop out of gear..as well as put undue stresses on everything connected to the frame that is also attached to a loose engine...like muffler mounts, cables, brackets, head pipes..and other things..like drivelines...ect. At least it's something to check. CFM is well knows for loose bolts.

There is a bulletin for earlier (2015 and maybe 2016) 500 HO (2 up seat models) muffler brackets. The bulletin addresses two different situations. reinforcing the current mount if it hasn't broke yet or installing a new mount if it has broke (like yours). Contact your dealer, they have access to these bulletins.
