HELP Is there some way of stopping the pulleys turning so I can use a long power bar and muscle on them? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Yes, there is a holding tool called a spanner wrench you are supposed to use for removal and tightening retainers on both clutches. Also if the bolt is out on the primary, if the belt were off, and if you have the puller, which you will have to have anyway, you don't need to remove that nut as it only holds the rest of the clutch together. The secondary's nut can be a real bit*ch but it too MUST be held with a spanner. It is RH threaded. To be clear, from the 12:00 position, RH threads turn from 12 to 1 or to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen. LH threads tighten from the 12-O'clock position to the 11-O'clock or to the left and to the right to loosen. Both primary retainers are LH threaded and the secondary is RH.
I made my own spanners...you can too. Otherwise either buy the CFM special tools or get an adjustable spanner that will go up to 6"s.
