Coolant leak 550 efi eps
« on: October 11, 2017, 09:31:14 AM »
On the waterpump housing there is a fitting at the bottom with a clear hose attached to it. Other end of hose sits couple centimeter higher and open in end, to what purpose i am not sure...maby to lead out overpressure. In my case this hose got a hole in it where it goes outside the fitting and coolant leaked out. I cut the hose about 2cm(1inch) and put it back on. Anyone else had this issue? Want to replace this to something of better quality to prevent this reoccuring in future.

Long as the weep chamber drains if either seal leaks and no fluids build up its OK. Mine has no hose on it but if I was going in water and mud I would tap for the fitting and put a short line on it facing down to drain...and a Kawasaki atmospheric check valve on the end like my Brute has. I think it's wrong to point the end up as it will have to fill the weep chamber first before overflowing. It will also hole the leakage in and take-out the seals in time. But they still make them that way...whatchagonado. :)
