Over the week end I gave the bike a service with all new oils in the motor and diffs, the engine oil was a little dirty and the filter was black as well, The diffs looked like they had motor oil in them not a gear oil, they also had little metal flakes in the oil as well as some metal on the drain plugs not a lot, but still there.

I pulled the bike apart and gave all the electrical connections a good going over with CRC and waterproofed them all, after looking at it and having a think about it, when I had the issue i was cruising along a deep soft sandy track in low when i did shut the bike of and tried to start it again the fuel pump wouldn't pump like normal, I think what has happend is the lack of air flow through the bike has allowed the fuel line to get hot from the exhaust causing it to vaper lock once it cooled down it was able to start again. In light of this I will be making a heat sheald for between the head and exhaust and getting a heat sheald sleave for the fuel line as well insulating the bottom of the fuel tank, While I'm there I might wrap the exhaust in a exhaust wrap too.

What did you use for the rock sliders?

Great job looks cool I have skid plates I ordered from Russia but this looks a lot better :) 👍🏻

All I did was used some small 20x20mm box section and slid that in the the frame and then used some 32mm OD 4mm wall tube for the slider, I try to keep it a simple as possible.

Thanks mate, I wanted to just buy a skid plate kit but the budget didn't stretch that far and once I realized i didn't have any were to attach the sides of the plate i knocked up the rock sliders, I have already put the full weight of the quad on them and they don't move.

Now I know I have been warned not to use a K&N air filter on the quad, but with correct maintenance on it I have never had a problem, I run them on every vehicle we have in the family so I ordered on that had the closest specs as the factory one and put that in last night. quick spin around the block, has got a better throttle response now, But i guess time will tell, we have a camping riding weekend at the beginning of next month. I also fitted a waterproof UHF radio as the other one didn't like the rain on our last trip.

Yes, back in the day it was the 27mhz AM CB radio but for the last 15 maybe 20 years UHF radio has been the go for communication.

What are your radios? I though they were VHF? Which here is only really used in marine applications With the UHF we have to stay under 5w max unless you have a licence then you can reprogram ( only some radios will do this ) up to 25w.

I wear my UHF in a shoulder holster.

I also have a 5w hand held radio to, the wife will stay with the bike if need be and we can use the hand held when required

There are very few places were there is not cellular service. Seems like you really have to go out of your way to find dead zones. FRS have come a long way and now have decent range to them, but I never see them while out. Can't use radios for hunting here.

5 mile out of town and your phone is useless, but they are working to make it better.
The 5 watt hand held are good for quite a distance in the flat country, not so much in the hills.
