CFORCE 500 HO EPS Oil in air filter box
« on: August 26, 2016, 03:51:47 PM »
Hi All,
Has anyone found engine oil in their air filter box. The must be little or no baffle between crankcase ventilation and that hose that attaches to the air filter box.
I went to pick up my ATV today 60 miles away that they could not fix the jerky low speeds on and before I loaded it decided to check on this. Sure enough there was a good coating of oil with some pooling in the bottom of the air filter box. The air filter has oil on it too but is it a dry element or oiled element type. My guess from the color of it dry.
I heard on a comment on my YT videos that there is a kit for this issue? Is this a CFMOTO fix?
Thanks
Kevin

Hi All,
CFMOTO called the dealer and told them about the TSB. Parts are ordered and they will inform me when they arrive. I will keep you posted if it fixes the problem.
Thanks
Kevin

Good news, no joy on the driving issues?

No fix for the driving issue. I asked CFMOTO HQ in Plymouth MN to please come up with a fix for this inability to hold steady speeds under 4000 RPM. I can't even hold a steady RPM under 4000 in neutral. That should take the excuse of it's your clutch setup that you need to get used to. I have Engine Braking Systems on two other Polaris Sportsman models that will slide the tires on loose gravel or wet grass like this CFORCE does when you slow down. That is one thing. I understand how that is supposed to feel like. This inability to feather the throttle to hold a constant RPM or speed drives me crazy.
It soulds like they have addressed this issue with success in every country on the planet except for the USA. I am begining to believe they have such a lean fuel curve that there is no more fuel delivered to the cylinder at 3900 RPM than there is at 1750 RPM where is idles at therefore it runs like crap between 1750 and 3900 RPM.
Thanks
Kevin

Hi All, It looks like this issue has been solved on my ATV. The dealer called it a recall. Does anybody know that this is a recall on this model CFORCE 500 HO EPS Two Up? If so I did not get a notice. I might have got a notice if the selling dealer would have registered it right away maybe.
I do not have my ATV back yet though as the low speed drivability issue still looms so i do not know if the recall fixed the oil in the air filter box.

I'm sorry to hear that the low speed driving issue remains. I was really looking at one, but there wasn't a fix yet so I went with an outlander.
2013 Z6 Trail
Iron Baltic skid plates
UE Boom Speaker mount
RZR 800 Shocks
Mostly stock trail riding
25g. Rollers and A1

2016 Outlander max 570
Too new for mods yet

I hear you. That was a wise choice. Right now I have been offered $4k on a trade which is $2k less than I bought it for. I thought I was saving $3k by purchasing this unit compared to a CanAm 2up. Big mistake! Now it's going to cost me close to $5k to trade. Live and learn!

I got a 570 max dps for only 1k more than CFM so it was an easy decision.

Kevin, Vin from your bike please
I'll be in the factory for some meeting and will bring this case up with your rep as to why this is not being fixed.
I don't have any power over the Usa Market , but I do have weight in the Head Office.
I Know there is a big push coming to improve the usa market with dealer training, Parts stock.
Hold in there!
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

Everything is Okay at this point. Kit has been installed. RPM issue with poor low speed drivability fixed. That was a slightly different fix than the Canadian models.
I did have a RPM runaway issue after the oil in air filter box update. I think there was some brake cleaner or carb cleaner fumes in the box left over from cleaning the oil out. Time will tell if this fix takes care of oil in the filter box.
