CFMOTO TSB Lag Time from China to the USA
« on: March 09, 2017, 04:32:51 PM »
Hi All,
I bought a 2016 CFMOTO in the US from a dealer in Minnesota. The dealer I bought it from is no longer invited to my party. I have found a dealer across state line that is actually listening to me. The Low speed uncommanded RPM issue has been resolved on my ATV by CFMOTO personally. It seemed as if the information was not available in the US to fix this. Also the air filter box had oil in it. Another delayed TSB and delayed parts availability.
Now I have this hot start issue. Someone called "Wheels" said the issue is known overseas but the TSB has not hit the states yet. I passed this info on to the dealer.
I have this CFMOTO ATV that is going out of warranty in a couple months and I would like to get the issues I have taken care of before that time comes.
I am getting impatient. This unit has been out of my possession for at least four of the nearly eleven months that I have owned it. It has a little over 300 miles on it.
I have been in contact with the dealer and the USA tech team in Plymouth MN but they are not responding anymore to me or the dealer.
Is there anybody that can get my story to the CFMOTO HQ in China so maybe I can finally get some action? Friends of mine can't believe I haven't errupted over these issues. I am a patient man but not for long...
Thanks
Kevin

Ok, Kevin try this,
Get a some wire and build a setup like shown in photo. length of wire, eyelet, 20amp fuse holder/fuse, spade connector.
Run the wire from +pos battery term to the front relay box.
get the fuel pump relay relay socket out of holder(small retainer clip)
Remove the blk/brown wire and replace with your new wire coming from battery.
The photos will show you what pin to swap.
The Usa has not released this fix. Your gonna have to try it yourself.
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

Thanks, The photos are excellent. Curious, the wire you removed (not the new one, the old one) from the connector gets its power through where? You said this power circuit has diodes in it. What is causing the engine not to start then? Low voltage on that circuit, no voltage, a signal to the ECM? I am wondering why I am getting smoke with a gassy smell when it finally does start then? Do you have a circuit diagram (schematic) of this ATV you can send me? It can't be that complex.
The ATV is at the dealer now. I understood what you meant to do before. While I am perfectly capable of performing this fix I have been digging my heals in and standing my ground on trying to get a seemingly complacent tech team at CFMOTO headquarters to move on a known issue. If they are working on a fix then let the dealer know what is going on. They haven't even responded to the dealer one way or the other. I heard you, the USA has not released this fix. My guess is each fix before it is released in the US has one tech, a team of ten engineers and a huge law firm tied to it.

It also comes from the battery, In the wiring diagram, the newer color is red, older units blk/brn.
For some reason there is power jump and flow back to and from ecu.
This separation has stopped the fuel pump and injector from dumping large amounts of fuel into the intake. Ecu scrambles its self.
Diagram can be found at the end of service manual.
I think you should take your heels out of the ground and get them on the floorboards.
The Usa has not understood how this fix will work. But it does, as there is multiple problems in the main harness to say, that only happened in a small lot of cables.
I have worked together with the engineer at the factory with this problem. And we have applied it with success.
Also went over it with Joe the service manager for CFmoto usa, in the factory and over dinner.
I'm sure they will have some kind of answer in the future for you.
Till then, jump it with a new wire and go ride.
Let me know if you have any other problems I can try to help you with.
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

The local dealer said they would not put this harness on. They also warned me that if I were to apply this fix it would void my warranty. They are waiting on a few cosmetic body parts they broke when they fixed the speed variation at low speeds problem. I might just leave it there until the warranty is out and go get it and apply your fix if it hasn't hit the USA yet.
Thanks for your troubles. I appreciate it!
I do need some sort of promise from CFMOTO that this will be fixed under warranty even though it will probably be out of warranty when the USA sends out the fix. How do I go about getting this promise???
