ATV Tie downs
« on: August 27, 2020, 10:19:04 AM »
Just wondering how everyone ties down the atv.
I use the winch on the front to the trailer then a strap on the back.
Just wondering where the "pinch points" are you use to tie down correctly.
from numerous utube videos it states not to use the front winch at all, and only attach a strap to a "non moving suspension" part of the frame, as on the rear it would be on the a-arm as close to the tire as possible as it barely bounces when travelling.
Just seeing what everyone else does..thnx!!

YES, never use the winch as the forces on it on rough roads will either break the gears and/or pull the cable/rope into the windings.
Always the safest for any vehicle is to be tied down by it's wheels and allow the vehicle's suspension to operate on all those bumps. If you must use something else, use the frame or a-frames on all four corners with enough pull-down that it can not move in any direction...especially down on impact with a larger bump as the return may break a strap. Never on any racks, plastics or support bars...they can't take it.
