Aftermarket shock!!!
« on: December 22, 2016, 04:21:34 AM »
So looking to see if anyone with the 500ho has upgraded their shocks? As we all probably know that the cforce 800 comes with gas adjustable front and rear shocks but I have not found an option for the 500? Let me know what any of you have found!!

From what i have worked out the 800 shocks will fit the 500, but you will need to use the 500 coils. The only thing is with the rear shock needs to have the bush/tube swapped top to bottom to bolt in.

This is a link with the 800 shock with drawings & specs,

Here are the drawings of the 500 shocks,

Have you tried it your self? I also want to change the shocks with the cf800 once.
Any update or picture?
Am so interested in swapping the original cforce 550 shocks with those once.

Sorry, no not yet, but I will be when funds permit....

From all my research the rear shock needs to be mounted so the body of the shock is down the bottom so no need to change the bushing tubes around to fit, It should be a straight bolt in using the 500HO coils but it will give you compression & rebound adjustment on the front and rebound adjustment on the rear using these shocks.

It should also give you a bit of a lift to.

Sorry I can't be any more help than that.

All, I just bought a cforce 500 HO eps and I too desired better rear shock performance. After measuring the eye to eye length, I ordered replacement springs from Highlifter, for a 1998 TRX 300 4x4 as they use one rear shock. The Highlifter coils are rated to be able to support 100 additional pounds each. Right now, the cf500 is set on max load and rides terrible. I'll pull the rear shocks off, replace the coils and hopefully I'll start out on the lowest setting. With passenger, we never bottomed but the unit was very squatted and appeared that the rear tires were close to touching fenders. I'll repost after I'm done with results. Bike only has 155 miles on it, did oil change already. Going to adjust the tps also.....slow speed jerky-ness is very annoying.

All, I replaced the stock coils with high lifter coils. Made spacers for the coils because they are shorter than stock. Work great. Gained almost 2 inches in the rear. Coils are for a TRX 300 4WD, but have have to order two as the 300 in mono shocked in the rear.

Installed Bronco shocks in the rear. Specs were for rear Yamaha grizzly rear shocks. They work great with plenty of support left running two up, eye to eye length was perfect with 10 mm bushings.......just like OEM. My cobbled together shocks with High Lifter Springs have been retired. Other projects may get them.
