DO many people have this problem?  Its very hard to shift sometimes between gears with the lever...especially into reverse.  Many times I have to "rock-it" to get it to cooperate but didnt know of theres an adjustment that Im missing...

They are pretty stiff from the factory.  How old is it?  I know mine took a little breaking in, but now it shifts just like anything else. 

its got 1500 miles on it...

there is a spring loaded pin under the shift lever that is accuated by the foot break using a cable and spring method. this can be adjusted.

I have 1000 miles on my Z, and while it is much better since new, I still need to be careful about shifting between gears. If there is any pressure on the gears in the transmission, I usually have to move the machine a bit before it will pop out of gear. It's usually fine once it makes it to neutral.
