My 1000 throttle is just too sensitive at low speed.
If I try reversing I just keep hopping backwards unless I use a bit of speed.
Likewise in forward gears I only have to touch the throttle and it jumps forward.
After a good run when I'm used to the sensitivity I can control it better, but is there any way to apply a little free play on the initial throttle opening?
Or is this just a case of practice?

As the 1000 is still using the cable throttle system we can't blame it on the electronic throttle so it must be in clutch engagement. Adjustments in primary springs and weights may well remedy that touchy-ness. It could also be idling too fast and that may be a function of the idle air control valve..which they have had some problems with.

Yep... a complaint of mine as well....  I have viewed no less than 4 YouTubes on this issue and every video decries the answer as an after-market clutch.  I don't want to spend any more money on this dude......

SO.... I shall better train my thumb.

I would agree with the throttle touchiness.
I have a 1000 Overland and it has the same issue.
I have ridden both the 800 and the 600, and although the belt engagement feel has some similar jerkiness to the 1000, their thumb throttle has a lot more modulation due to the lack of power.

After awhile of riding it, the rider learns how to finesse it, but it would be nice to have extra ability to modulate?
