I just put a little over 20 hours on the machine and I'm about to do my first oil change. I'm still learning about all the differences in oils. I know the break in oil is mineral based, but should I be switching to a full synthetic so soon or should I continue running mineral oil?

I've chosen full synthetic Mobil 1 4T 10W40, but I've seen others use regular SAE 10W40... should I be using a specific blend for 4-stroke engines?

If within that 20 hours you have reached operating it at full RPM (above 5,500) for extended periods and at maximum temps, then most of your breakin has been completed and you can go to a synthetic. However if you are still babying it.. at all...better start pushing it hard and soon..  and continue using conventional 10W40 for one more change cycle. When ready the Mobil 1 4T 10W40 is fine. I like to use an oil specifically formulated for high RPM,High heat motorcycle engines so I use Castrol PowerOne or RS 4T 10W40 but Mobile 1 is fine.
