Stuck....
« on: April 10, 2016, 12:36:26 PM »
Got one of our 2016 EX's stuck yesterday, snow was deeper than I thought. This was at about 4500 feet MSL or so, big snow patches in the draws, used the other machine & winch to pull it out, glad we had it. Had to use cable form the winch on the stuck machine to reach the other winch cable, routed it under the machine, and then through the framing at the bumper hitch, worked good; as long as the pulling machine was on dirt....my machine was high centered pretty bad; you could spin any of the wheels with a finger...Chris :)

Brother that was nothing....what was behind me that you can't see (because I didn't take any pics of it) is more impressive....here, the big issue was that I HAD to slow down going around a down tree; as soon as I got the front tires around it, I had to turn the wheel back to the right (uphill) & that was it, over & out, I just dug a nice deep hole. Then dug it deeper with the locker..... :)

Sad part is, another 3 or 400 yards more & I make it to the other side of the mountain, and I'm home free...nuther' week or maybe 2 & I'm good to go over the top. This summer is going to be a BLAST with these things.....YEEE  HAAAA!!!

Pic below is my Daughter just before a little patch of snow, it was HER machine I buried.... 8)

I love snow, we're transitioning now from sleds to the CF Moto's, in another three weeks or so we'll be able to get a lot higher in the mountains, for now, getting to that snow is about a 8 or 10 mile ride in. Leaves lots of places to ride, but I'm in Idaho, 86% of the State is NFS/BLM land, so no shortage of places to go & see/explore.

I hear you Walking; my 13 year old's Mom has Cancer in a not good way & she rides with me; it's a way for all of us to still get out into the woods as best we can. Daughter can take a friend, driving the CF Moto teaches her about driving a car; too, so yep, I did it; bought my 13 year old an 800, and I'd do it again, too.

That being said, bring yourself up here & I'll take you for a ride....it's pretty incredible in the northern rockies. :)

Rev, you just earned the honor of being the first guy added to my 'buddy' list here. What a wonderful thing to do for her. Sending you a huge karma point for being a great Dad. Hang in there on the health issue. So many people have lost loved ones to that dreaded disease - lost my Mom in '93 to it.

I must admit, Northern Rockies, Canada and British Columbia pics I have seen are the most beautiful country I have ever seen. We riders stuck here in the suburbs are in awe of what you guys see on a regular basis. Don't ever take it for granted. It must be the best way to blow off a stressful day - just open up the back door and walk out onto the deck to see those mountains.

Thanks Walking, appreciated; and sorry to hear about your Mom.

And yep, we are pretty spoiled. I can go from my back door & ride 100 miles (straight line) north to Canada, or stay in the NFS & BLM lands & go south 400+ miles to Boise, there's old mines, LOTS of animals, bear, (grizz & black)moose, elk, mountain goats & dahl ram, cats of all kinds, a lot of space, 86% of Idaho is federal land, 14% is private. Hard to make a living here, though, but the skiing/fishing/hunting & everything outdoors is spectacular.
