Seemed to work fine, I think but can't be positive.
That little white rod in the center is like a ceramic material. It may get wore down and not be long enough to press the contacts inside to complete the circuit. Bimetal Disc seems to be popping fine in both heating and cooling.

Probably like you say GF, that center piece changes somehow making the disk not push the contacts together.

NMK, if you mean the black on the disk itself, there is a printed model number on them.

I was looking at these circled connections.

Ohhhhh....good eye!   Those solder joints looked and felt very sturdy. Don't think it was losing connection that way.  Good catch though.
